Eurovision

I’m not a Eurovision fan but I was a little stunned that this year’s contest was won by Peter Andre’s slightly-less-talented Russian doppelganger. Even Terry Wogan seems to be jaded by the political voting this year and is talking of quitting. Whilst voting in Eurovision has always been about politics rather than music, the large numbers of countries in the eastern bloc mean that western European countries are unlikely to win in the future. Whether you care about Eurovision or not, it seems a shame that the countries who have contributed most historically no longer have a chance of winning.
