The dangers of sat-nav reliance

I’ve recently upgraded my sat-nav. The new model calculates the quickest routes based on traffic information and lets you know how much time the delays will add to your journey. The extra features have meant that I’ve started relying on the sat-nav again despite not really needing it to find my way around. I’ve discovered the traffic updates are not very reliable at all – I’ve been stuck in very slow traffic jams that haven’t registered a couple of times and spent an hour and a half today travelling three miles while the sat-nav kept assuring me the route was clear.
